When to start inside: Not recommended except in very short growing seasons, 2 to 4 weeks before average last frost. Sow in paper or pulp pots that can be planted directly into the ground. Transplant when soil temperature is at least 60°F.

Harvesting: Harvest when squash is 2"-31/2" in diameter. Baby round zucchini will grow larger, but the eating quality will diminish. However, if left on the plant to mature, they will turn a yellowish- salmon color and can be used as autumn decorations along with pumpkins and other winter squash.
